Macassar Retail Centre

This 2,400 m² retail expansion and refurbishment project transformed an existing shopping centre through the extension of the Shoprite supermarket, relocation of the Shoprite Liquor Store, and the creation of additional lettable space for new tenants including a pharmacy, Debonairs, gambling pub and other line shops. The project also included accessibility upgrades and enhanced security measures throughout the centre. When Key Projects was appointed, the development lacked clear direction and had experienced prolonged delays. Through decisive project leadership, the team prepared a detailed feasibility study to establish the maximum viable investment, resolved statutory planning and building plan approval challenges, procured the construction works and facilitated the formation of a community steering committee to oversee local labour participation from the Macassar community. By providing full Project Management, Principal Agent and Tenant Coordination services, Key Projects successfully repositioned and delivered a project that had previously stalled, turning a challenging development into a completed and commercially successful retail destination.
